Bayside Voting Operations Move to Middle School Gymnasium
Bayside voters will still go to the middle school for the February primaries, but they will be headed to a different entrance to access the gymnasium.
Bayside's polling booths will move from the Bayside Middle School multi-purpose room to the school's gymnasium for the Feb. 19 primary election.
Bayside officials and Fox Point-Bayside school officials announced the change in the village's sole polling location Thursday. According to a news release, voting operations will remain at Bayside Middle School, but will be moved from the multi-purpose room, which was accessed through the south entrance (Standish Place entrance); to the gymnasium, located on the north side of the building (Ellsworth Lane).
The move helps provide easier access for voters, additional room for voting equipment and poll workers, and also provides an added aspect of security to the Bayside Middle School building, according to the news release. The new voting location will have one entry and one exit point, and will not interrupt everyday activities at the middle school.
Residents will have the ability to park on in the north side lot, located off East Ellsworth Lane. Additional directional signage, as well as personnel will be available to help guide voters to the correct location.
The village will be holding a spring primary election on Feb. 19, and the regular spring election on April 2. Polling booths open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

Terrible idea! The Bayside gymnasium is a classroom that is suppose to keep kids moving and active. The physical education curriculum has many other interuptions during the school year due to concerts, programs and other school activities. Now they will be losing 3 more days of running their classes during the year.
