Cops: Car Break-in at Speakeasy Nightclub

The victim was only inside the bar for about an hour, but that was long enough for a thief to bust in his passenger side window and take off with a red backpack.

A Speak Easy Nightclub patron saw the tab for his evening out jump by $400 after a thief broke the man's truck window and made off with a backpack full of goodies.

The 40-year-old Bayside man told Bayside police sometime between 6:15 and 7:39 p.m. Nov. 12, someone broke into the front passenger side window of his truck and stole a red backpack, according to the police report. He said it was sitting on the front passenger seat and had a few personal items inside, including an umbrella, pocket knife and a thermometer for a total value of $100.

The report said the victim had an expensive electronics item in the center compartment, but it didn’t seem the suspect went through the car, since nothing else was missing or damaged.

Police estimated the broken window damage at $300.
