Fox Point Residents Fight for Better Tax Numbers

Five Fox Point residents appeared at the Village Board Tuesday night to take action to lower the assessed value on their properties. While they were not given a chance to plead their case, four were assigned future dates to return in front of the board, and one case was denied additional review for not turning in all the appropriate information on time. An attorney representing one of the residents also gave some insight into why they will continue their fight, even if that means going to civil court.

Indian Hill School Undergoes Water Treatment Changes

Indian Hill Elementary School in River Hills is undergoing renovations after high levels of lead and copper were discovered in the school’s well. The school has gone through steps to ensure the water is safe for drinking.  The district has installed six bottled water dispensers throughout the school and has turned off older bubblers without proper filters attached.

Pick of the Patch: Walk in Tommy Talesnik's Shoes

Tommy Talesnik is a cobbler in Bayside who moved to the United States so his children could have a brighter future, opportunity and safety. “You have to love what you do,” he said. He’s also a Packers fan.  “We are the champions of the world!” he said, adding that he knew the Packers would win the Super Bowl.“I welcome everyone to my shop,” Talesnik said. “If you don’t know me, stop by. You’ll be glad you did.”

Bites Nearby: NSB Bar & Grill

The first of our weekly restaurant features, NSB Bar & Grill gave me some insight into buffalo meat and aioli. Since I didn't have a tape measure, I used a standard pen to try and figure out how tall this burger was, and it was nearly the same height, so they sure don't skimp on size here. Despite the upscale atmosphere and stellar service, the prices reflect a more reasonable approach to dinning in the North Shore.
