John McKay Pins Cedarburg Wrestler in 29 Seconds

However, the Knights lost that close match Thursday.

The boys basketball team lost at home Friday to the second
ranked team in the State, the Germantown Warhawks. The boys played hard with Eugene Bonner scoring 22 points and Tyler Miller dropping in 12. This week, the boys will play at Whitefish Bay on Friday.

The girls basketball team remain undefeated after beating Germantown on the road Friday 68-54, with 23 points from Junior Briana Gray and 18 from Senior Brittney Fair. Senior Courtney Smith added 12. The girls are now ranked No. 2 in the area behind Milwaukee Vincent but they are ranked No. 1 in the State AP poll, just ahead of Vincent. This week, the Lady Knights will host Whitefish Bay on Friday in a battle of undefeated conference foes.

The boys swim and dive team lost a home dual with a tough Cedarburg squad last Thursday and hosted their annual Nicolet Dive Invitational Friday. They compete next on Jan. 26 when they host Whitefish Bay.

The wrestling team lost a close match Thursday to Cedarburg. The highlight was a 29 second pin by Senior Jon McKay. Varsity will compete in the Raider Invite at Sheboygan North High School on Saturday.

The Nicolet/ girls hockey co-op team lost to Appleton United 4-1 Thursday but bounced back on Saturday night winning 7-1 over the Xavier co-op. Both Nicolet players Abby Berman and Laine Thomesch scored goals in the win. The girls are now 12-4-1 (5-2-1) and have a tournament on Saturday.

The Nicolet/Whitefish Bay Boys hockey co-op team will skate on Friday at MSOE's Kern Center against Oregon at 8 p.m. with the JV skating at 6 p.m. vs. Kettle Moraine.

The gymnastics team won their conference dual meet with Brookfield  Wednesday.  JV players Erin Kinney, Ali Zimmerman, Ali Marcus, Sharlotte Irwin and Chantel Drake all placed for one of their events. In the varsity competition, Jessica Kloehn placed first for both vault and floor. Val Whittle placed first for bars and all around, fifth for vault and second for beam. Hayley Raj placed fifth on beam.  Rachel Rabenn placed first on beam, second on bars and all around and fifth on floor. Kim Charles placed second on beam. The team competes next on Jan. 26 at Whitefish Bay.

The ski team competed in two events last week. Thursday, Mike Noonan and the Varsity boys won with Joe Tarnowski and Brody Wallace finishing fifth. The JV boys also won with Robby Abrahamien taking gold. On the girls side, Claire Kopetsky finished fourth. On Sunday, the boys varsity won again with John Jaekels taking first, Mike Noonan third and Joe Tarnowski fifth. The girls varsity won behind Claire Kopetsky's third and Megan McMahon's fourth. Girls JV players took second with Amy Vanderhout finishing fourth. Their next race is Jan. 26 at Sunburst.
