Jose's Blue Sombrero, Sal's Tailor Fancy Fox Point
The old Outback Steakhouse will be home to a new cantina looking to call Fox Point home.

North Shore residents will soon see new signs of life breathed into the old Outback Steakhouse in Fox Point, and another is having a change in ownership.
The Fox Point Village Board approved Tuesday applications from Jose's Blue Sombrero and Sal's Tailor to move into Fox Point and change ownership.
Jose's Blue Sombrero is a Mexican cantina chain with locations in Brookfield and Racine. The restaurant will bring 75 new jobs and the application to the board says there are also plans to build a new outdoor patio dining area and garden. Opening day is slated for June 1 in the old Outback Steakhouse, 8617 N. Port Washington Road.
Based on Facebook responses, reactions of residents were mixed.
"That's terrific," Ann Deuser of Bayside said on Facebook. "It's been vacant for years!"
Rebecca Troeller, also of Bayside, is happy a new business is taking over the old space, but wondered if something besides Jose's would be a better option.
Elisa Summers of Fox Point said she'd like to see something other than a Mexican restaurant as well. But Jaime Druck said she's happy with anything filling the empty building.
"It has been vacant at least four years, anything is better than Outback," Druck said on Facebook. "I have heard great things about the restaurant — I think it is owned by the people who own Eddie Martini's? It was a shame when the movie theater closed there, so a more fun restaurant is always welcome!"
Jose's is slated to be open Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to midnight, Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. and they will be closed Sundays.
In addition to Jose's, the board also approved an application for Sal's Tailor to change ownership at the Fox Point Shops, 6904 N. Santa Monica Boulevard. Sal's features alterations for men and women, and is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
