Maintaining a high level of village services while keeping a lid on property taxes are among the priorities of Michael Barth as he announces his bid for re-election to the Bayside Village Board in April.
“Managing our resources and meeting the expectations of our residents and businesses is an ongoing challenge, one that requires significant experience, the ability to collaborate and a desire to lead,” said Barth, of 9270 N. Waverly Drive. “I look forward to continuing to bring strong leadership to our board and community.”
Bayside is a good-government success story, and Barth takes pride in the accomplishments the community has experienced on the watch of the current board.
2012 saw the creation of the Bayside Communication Center, bringing together all seven North Shore Communities with consolidated dispatch services. During the year the Village received a number of significant awards including; the Award for Intergovernmental Cooperation from the Public Policy Forum; the Community Partnership Program Excellence Award and the Certification of
Distinction for Performance Measurement Award from the International City/County Management Association; the Distinguished Budget Award from Government Finance Officers Association (4 th annual award).
Bayside has been able to make progress while maintaining a policy of fiscal responsibility. In fact, the 2013 budget calls for no tax levy increase and is the third year with no increase in expenditures.
Barth has been a trustee since 2003, and has been elected to his position three times. He chairs the Finance and Administration Committee and has served on the Architectural Review Committee, the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Board of Review and the Public Safety Committee.
He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a deposit product manager at Associated Bank, with many years of experience in financial services, marketing, research and analysis. He also serves as Trustee at Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun.
“I feel my background in finance, market research and product management provides a unique skill set valuable to the role of trustee, and can help Bayside remain a quality place to live, work and play,” Barth said.
A resident since 1994, Barth and his wife, Lynda, have two daughters – one a Junior at the University of Iowa and the other a Senior at Nicolet.
Barth looks forward to meeting with community residents and business owners and hearing their comments and concerns as his re-election campaign begins. The general election will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013.
