PHOTOS: A Closer Look at Empty Bowl Kick Off
Sharing a glass of wine and a paintbrush, these ladies donated their time and a bowl to help feed the hungry.
Dozens of women made their way to Art Trooper in Bayside Friday night to paint a bowl for Empty Bowls, an initiative to help stop hunger.
This deep-rooted, North Shore tradition began with Amy Dodge, a Bayside resident who wanted to help feed the hungry. She began the Milwaukee chapter of Empty Bowls in 1999, and to date, has raised nearly $300,000 to help feed the hungry.
Empty Bowls will have their 2011 fundraiser from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 8 at the Milwaukee Area Technical College Oak Creek campus, 6665 S. Howell Ave., Oak Creek.

Kudos to these ladies and this organization! How do we donate besides attending the Oak Creek fundraiser?

Mira, Thanks for the comment! You can still go to Art Trooper and purchase a bowl to paint, and according to the Empty Bowls Milwaukee website, you can write checks out and mailed to:

I'd love to go, but Oct. 8 is Yom Kippur. Maybe next year th scheduling will work out.
