Update: Lake Park Bistro Tops Romantic Restaurant List
Special congratulations to Jennifer Patrick, who will be receiving a $50 gift certificate to La Merenda after winning Patch's random drawing.
Update: Congratulations to Jennifer Patrick of Whitefish Bay, who won our random drawing for a $50 gift certificate to her restaurant of choice, La Merenda in Walker's Point!
Everyone submitted great restaurant recommendations for our Valentine's Day contest, and our tallies show the favorite restaurant was Lake Park Bistro, followed by other favorites such as Harbor House, Pasta Tree, La Merenda and Capitol Grille. Thanks for your comments, and have a happy Valentine's Day!
Valentine's Day is less than a week away, which means it's time to start shopping for roses and planning a romantic dinner with your better half.
Here at Patch, we're curious what you think, so we're asking you to leave a comment with your favorite romantic restaurant in the area and what you like about it.
Next week, we'll throw all of the names in the proverbial hat, pick a winner and award them a $50 gift certificate to the restaurant they recommended.
Your recommendation can be anything from a local favorite to a hidden gem within easy driving distance.
In the North Shore, there are old favorites like Jack Pandl's Whitefish Bay Inn, 1319 E Henry Clay St; Calderone Club, 8001 N Port Washington Rd, Fox Point; or Hubbard Park Lodge in Shorewood.
And there are newer favorites like Devon Seafood Grill in Bayshore Town Center; Nana Asian Fusion, 4511 N. Oakland Ave., Shorewood; and NSB Bar and Grill, 8649 N Port Washington Rd in Fox Point.
A short jaunt down Lake Drive will take you to Lake Park Bistro , 3133 E. Newberry Blvd. in Milwaukee, or a little further south, there are fancy dining options like Coquette Café, 316 N. Milwaukee St., and Hinterland, 222 E. Erie St.
So, where's it going to be? Recommend a restaurant from our list or share a favorite that we didn't include. When you leave your comment, be sure to share a little bit about your favorite spot and what makes it so special.
Good luck, and happy dining!

Harbor House! We went for our anniversary, and they took such great care of us. Top-notch all around, from the complimentary champagne to the fantastic food to the beautiful view of Milwaukee and the lake at sunset.

Boy, that sounds great. In addition to Valentine's Day, me and my wife's anniversary is coming up in March, so may have to check this place out. Thanks Kris.

Harbor House is great but more in the summer. Hands down most romantic and all around great experience is Lake Park Bistro- food and service to die for with a great French flair-Dover Sole-WOW!!!! Get a secluded table for 2 by the window-lake view

Great suggestion, Tom - I second Lake Park Bistro. Some added other options: Jake's, Flemings in Brookfield, or Capitol Grill :)

Ristorante Bartollata is wonderful... I think all their restaurants are, but this one is my favorite for the cozy atmosphere and simple, authentic flavors.

I would not say that it's romantic, Donny ... and yet, someone who loves me would indeed take me to Qdoba.

You pick the place for me, I will be happy to go anywhere as long as they can serve me a steak Diane like I always had some years back at the Red Circle Inn, Neshotah, WI. I have seached for a restaurant that still brings it flaming to the table with the liqueur poured over the steak. Make my day.

I've never had a bad meal at Lake Park Bistro for sure, but for "romantic setting," for some reason I like the cozy confines and laid back charm of Pasta Tree. Another good one near Shorewood is Tess. In the summer go eat outside.

I'd have to go with Ma Fischers....In addition to the lovely decor how can one not feel intimate surrounded by a bunch of drunks and stoners looking for a greasy, filling meal. No need to have the waitress bring a cart by your booth to show you the dessert offerings when you can just view them in the carousel up front going round & round & round.
As for views, you have multiple choices. Once can pick a window seat overlooking the parking lot or if you're lucky enough, snag a window seat overlooking Farwell and catch a glimpse of the buses passing by spewing black smoke.
And, let's not forget about the special appeal for those among us who are weight concious. No need to expend the extra energy afterwards using the dynamic duo index & middle when the meal just comes up on it's own.

For amazing seafood in a very nice, cozy setting..Riverlane Inn-Brown Deer and Pasta Tree on Farwell always comes through.

My husband and I recently went to The Capital Grille. It was wonderful! Also great for couples and a favorite of ours is Il Mito in Wauwatosa. Not on our side of town, but sooo worth the trip!

Anaba, right in Shorewood, across the street from Atwater school! You can eat dinner in the greenhouse on the roof, even in winter. The food is fabulous, and very vegetarian-friendly.

We like the deck at Roots or the bottom part of the restaurant. Top notch food, service, and ambience. Another romantic place is the super incendiary riverwest gem cafe corazone (the heart). Small, edgy, and seductive.

Karl Ratzch's. There is nothing better than the Cracklin' pork shank. And where else can you buy a pork shank for $30? High end stuff.
