@Bob McBride -- After the last week of being pulled away from any number of important activities, I made a vow not to vote for anyone who repeatedly robo-called me asking for my vote on Tuesday, so yeah, I'm voting for Tammy. Big surprise.

Somewhere on Patch there has to be a place where all you Dems can sing the praises of Tammy Baldwin and explain how you're voting for her on her merits, rather than complaining about the Republican field and how they're running a campaign that's not even targeted at you folks in the comments section of an article about the Tea Party.

No, Todd, that's not correct. The people I was directing my comment to have consistently over time here supported Democrats, have stated they voted for or will vote for Democrats and consistently criticize Republicans. Out of that group, the one who claims to be an independent is the one that most reliably and consistently runs with the Democratic party line. In my book, if you consistently support Democratic candidates and Democratic causes and, conversely, criticize Republican candidates and Republican causes, you are a Democrat, regardless of what you call yourself. The same goes for those I label as Republicans.

I've yet to see here much of anyone I'd call an independent. There may be a couple but, frankly, they tend not to stick around long because this venue lends itself to partisan arguing.

Not voting because you don't care for either candidate is hardly intelligent or patriotic. It's abdicating your responsibility to participate in our form of government on one of those rare opportunities we have to do just that. We have a two party system. The parties are not identical. There's always some choice that can be made. Not voting isn't counted. Inaction does nothing.

@Bob McBride -- Somebody seems to have missed my dry humor. I got robo-called because of where I live. The one live person seemed very surprised to learn that a 'Democrat' lived in Waukesha County.

Ironically, I'm more of an independent who leans left. I have actually voted for the GOP candidate in the Presidential election once or twice. I would almost have voted for John McCain in 2008 except for his running mate and the seriousness of the economic situation. I believed at the time (and still do) that four more years of the same policy would send us completely over the cliff.

I vote character and platform, not party.

Hello Tim! We have a two main-party system. You want the "current" Democratic Party to go away. What then remains? Although there are differences in viewpoint I think we must all agree that balance is essential. A one-party government is not a free government. And I do agree that "all sides of the issues, and other peoples [sic] beliefs should be heard and learned and discussed." I don't agree that the "left" controls education. I believe that just as there are multiple intelligences there are varying capacities and receptivities to learning. An educational institution is a place to exercise the intellect and learn the process of inquiry. I can appreciate that a left-brain dominant individual could face certain challenges in a right-brain dominant group. I think it's important to disassociate colleague behaviors (alleged) from the place of employment. Knowledge and facts are apolitical. I do not recall the teacher to whom you refer. What happened with her/him?

Patriots will simply not vote if neither candidate will be any better than the other which would be the case between Baldwin and Thompson.

Letting others determine your fate while complaining about the choices available is not patriotic.

Obama has had 4 years and his solutions have made things far worse.

Obama could never have a R by his name because the right is focused on defeating him because he doesnt reflect the issues they believe in . @skinnyDUDE Well the Republicans did elect Bush twice and Obama is following in his footsteps from everything from bailouts, to foreign intervention, to exponentially increasing the size and scope of government. For some reason you can not understand what I am saying that to many people simply vote party line no matter what. Tommy Thompson for example created and pushed for the individual mandate in Wisconsin (BadgerCare). Now the Republicans want to trust him to go to the US senate and repeal (ObamaCare) the very type of program that he instituted and pushed for in Wisconsin?

I think not, I would rather have a Tammy Baldwin that I know where she will be going and push to remove her from office next time around. If Tommy gets in he will be just as bad but it will be harder to replace him with someone good because he has an R behind his name and would be an incumbent.

Can you tell me what the 5 trillion in the last 3 1/2 years has done for you ? I mean your guy is driving the ship. He had complete control of house and senate for 2 years. Could of done whatever he desired. I guess he desired FAILURE!
