Teens Rob Bayside Open Pantry Sunday Night
Officers find a half box of candy bars and potentially stolen clothes in the getaway car.
According to the report:
Two teens came into the store and an employee asked if he could help them find anything. One of the suspects said "Symphony candy bars." Instantly, one of them grabbed a box of King Size Reeses Peanut Butter Cups (the box was about ½ full and has a retail value $20 to $30), and they ran out the door to a maroon van. They didn't imply they had any weapons, they didn't make any threats, and they were only in the store for about 45 seconds, an Open Pantry employee told Fox Point police.
Glendale police found the van near Coventry Court apartments in Glendale. The driver, a 17-year-old from Milwaukee, told officers he didn't go into the store. However, he did admit he was driving the van and didn't have a valid driver's license.
The two men who went into the store were 19 and 20 yeas old, both from Milwaukee.
The van was towed to the police station and officers discovered three pairs of new Levis jeans, two new t-shirts, four packages of socks and two packages of shirts inside the van. None of the suspects admitted the items were stolen or that they belonged to them. The juvenile was picked up by his mother at 12:40 a.m. The other two were transported to Bayshore Mall by police.
The 17-year-old was issued a citation for operating after suspension and all three men were issued citations for retail theft.
