Who Serves the Best Fish Fry in the North Shore?

Give us your suggestions and we'll feature those spots in a poll on Monday.

Who's got the best fish fry in the North Shore? Patch wants to know.

Fish fries are always popular in Wisconsin, and everyone has a favorite.

But there is no time for a fish fry like Lent, which began this week.

We'd like to know where your favorite spot is for a Friday night fish fry. Give us a suggestion in the comments section below, and we'll feature that spot in a poll on Monday.

You'll be able to vote throughout the week, and we'll name the winner on March 2. Winners will be determined by Patch editors based on poll votes, comments, reviews and Facebook or Twitter feedback.

Our search for the Best Fish Fry kicks off 12 weeks of local business competition, trying to narrow down the top spots in town for everything from pizza to mechanics to salons.

So start thinking of your local favorites, and get ready to vote, share your opinions and write reviews abut the best spots in town.

I'm quite partial to the fish fry at the American Legion post here in Shorewood.

I liked Harry's before they stopped serving walleye and haven't really found anything I liked as much since then, so I'll be real interested to hear what places others have found.

I hate to make a shout out to Shorewood instead of my own Patch, but the fish fry at Hubbard Park Lodge was pretty awesome :)

I hate that I haven't made it out to Hubbard for a fish fry yet. Don't they have live polka music, complete with a guy on the accordion?

Yeah, it's awesome. There's these HUGE round tables so everyone sits together, or you can go upstairs which is this loft thing and just watch everyone dance and play below. The guy playing the acordian even had on full German garb and the kids loved just dancing around.

I was very reluctant to go to Thirst & Vine when they first opened, as they went through so many changes over the years -- but they really have good food and service, good fish fry, and check out their cheese selection ........ in Europe quite common to have cheese and wine for desert

Didn't even know they served food. Thanks for mentioning it, David.

I thought it was only appetizers from next door, too. Good to know it's got a fish fry as well.

I haven't personally been to the Hubbard Park fish fry, but I have heard good things about it. I suspect that it is very similar to the fish fry they do at Lakefront Brewery.

I think Oakcrest Tavern has a nice fish fry.

The 'North Shore' seems to have stretched quite a bit to the West...

On the 'North Shore' of Big St Germain Lake The Clearview has a terrific fish fry, it's Lake Perch; they have a great Walleye option too, for Bob McBride. (kept mine on the North Shore!!)

Fish fry at the American Legion--love the experience there as well as the food.
I haven't tried Hubbard Lodge but their lumberjack brunch is a marvelous carb fest and, again, a wonderful experience you just can't get in a regular restaurant.
These are the two places in Shorewood I insist on taking out-of-town visitors to.

I'm with Michele on this one. If you want a combination of great food and a great community, the fish fry at Holy Family is the way to go. Lots of choices and lots of fun.

I want the one featured in the photo. A good oven brown or baked potato (leave the french fries for the fast food places), a vegetable or coleslaw (cold) and pan fired perch, will make my day.

We love Hubbard Park, too. So cozy when the fire is going and the kids love to dance to the live music!

I used to go to Johnson's Green Seven - they had a very good fish fry. But if you weren't a heavy smoker you wouldn't want to actually eat there - I did take out. I haven't been though sincethe nonsmoking kicked in.

I would HIGHLY recommend TESS on Bartlett...not just for the fish fry but they also have awesome special dinner offerings paired with complimentary beer. The atmosphere and service are great also!

I should have said, brews that complement each course of the meal.

North Star American Bistro has the best fish fry I've ever had. Hot, crispy, flavorful. The Hubbard park lodge has the festive, family environment, but we were sadly disappointed in their food. Its the same caterer as the Palm Garden, blecch. We went to Taylor and Dunn's last Friday. It was nothing special.

Have to throw my hat in the ring for Oakcrest Tavern. I've been there several times and never disappointed.
