A look back at the top headlines from Fox Point-Bayside Patch in 2011.

 

At year's end it's nice to take a look back at where you came, which offers a good look at where you're going. At Patch, April brought us some stories about kids reaching out to help others, preschoolers hatching fuzzy little chicks and - as always - some interesting police reports.

Fuzzy Little Chicks Hatch Just in Time for Easter

With big smiles and wide eyes, preschooler's in Michelle Mittelstadt's class at Rainbow Preschool watched these chicks as they pecked out of their eggs, and began to grow into tiny, fluffy chicks.

Bayside Art Teacher Takes Home Kohl Award

It’s a celebration of creativity.  In her classroom at Bayside Middle School, art teacher Julie Trump emblazens creative process as she focuses on the work of each individual student. The Kohl Education Foundation celebrated Trump’s creative teaching talent by awarding her a 2011 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Fellowship.

Two Girls Begin a Campaign4Kindness

Kelsie Alling, 12, and Miranda Ramirez-Vang, 11, are two girls from different neighborhoods, but their Campaign4Kindness teaches the importance of understanding common human struggle.

Patch Helps Catch McDonald's Hit-And-Run Driver

Thanks to Whitefish Bay police officer Russell Blank's keen eye, and surveillance footage on Patch, a man who drove into the north side of the McDonald's and then drove off was caught.
