Three Men Steal Hair Clipper From Fox Point Beauty Supply Store

They tried to make off with a hair clipper, but were caught outside of Best Buy in RiverPoint Shopping Center.

CORRECTION: This story was originally posted labeling the incident as a "robbery," which is a felony and occurs when force or the threat of force is used. The correct classification is retail theft, which results in municipal citations. This story was updated on March 28 at 4 p.m. to reflect these changes. Patch apologizes for the error.

Three Milwaukee men thought they could distract two employees at Sally Beauty Supply, 8687 N. Port Washington Rd., and sneak out with a hair clipper. Little did they know that Fox Point police would find them just outside of Best Buy.

According to the report:

Just after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, three men, ages 41, 19 and 53, walked into the Sally Beauty Supply store in RiverPoint Shopping Center. A Sally employee told police when she returned from her lunch, she walked back into the store and saw a man come from behind the cash register counter.

As the man was walking, she noticed he had something “box shaped” underneath his jacket. She also recognized him from when he was in a few days earlier and asked about hair clippers that were on a shelf behind the cash register. When he left, she looked up at the shelf and noticed one of the clippers was missing.

Shortly after Fox Point police interviewed the employees, Fox Point and Bayside officers caught the three men matching the description the employee gave as they were leaving Best Buy. All three admitted they were in Sally’s; however, they said they did not take or purchase any merchandise. All three were patted down, but officers didn't find anything. Based on the information from the employees at Sally’s, the men were arrested for retail theft.

A Bayside officer who was transporting one of the men noticed a clear, plastic “corner cut” baggy containing pieces of a hard, cream colored substance that he perceived to be crack cocain, under the driver’s seat. The pieces were tested and came back positive for cocaine.

All three were cited for retail theft and the man who was transported by a Bayside officer is facing charges for possession of cocaine.

This was more of a burglary than a robbery. There was no force used here according to the article. I'm surprised that you can't make the distinction.

This was not a robbery. No weapon was displayed and no force was used. It is a retail theft and the individuals involved were issued municipal court citations which results in a civil forfeiture.
