The Wisconsin Humane Society is offering adoption discounts to veterans and members of the armed forces this Veteran’s Day weekend. “Operation Troops & Tails” allows servicemen and women, past and present, to adopt a companion animal for just $25 beginning on Friday, November 9 through Sunday, November 11. Following the weekend promotion, WHS will offer an ongoing military discount of 25 percent off all adoption fees.
This program was inspired by local philanthropist Stan Kass who has made several generous contributions to the organization over the past year and is providing the financial support to make Operation Troops & Tails possible.
“Stan himself is a veteran, and we feel privileged to be able to help Stan honor others like him,” said Anne Reed, executive director at WHS. “We look forward to creating many wonderful matches between homeless animals and the brave men and women who serve our country.”
The promotion applies to all adult dogs, puppies, and kittens at the shelter’s Milwaukee and Saukville locations. As always, adopters name their own fee for adult cats. All animals currently available for adoption can be viewed at www.wihumane.org or www.ozaukeehumane.org.
All adopters must have photo identification and proof of address. Additionally, troops and veterans must show valid military I.D. or proof of military service bearing their name in order to receive the discount.
