Jason's bumper sticker mentality wouldn't be so bad if they were funny. Or even relevant to reality.

Let me explain Jason, take "Forget Hope and Change, What I Want is a JOB!"
See, that's funny because it's a take off of Barack Hussein Obama's last campaign catch phrase. And It's relevant because real unemployment is somewhere above 15%.

How about "Honk If I am Paying for Your Health Insurance". It's funny because it's a take off of the old bumper sticker "Honk if your Horny" and relevant because of what Obamacare is putting us through.

Hope that helps Jason.

Here's to fact-checking Paul Ryan's speech last night:

1 )He blamed Obama for the GM plant closing in Janesville ~ It closed under George W. Bush

2) Ryan said "Obama funneled $716 billion out of Medicare at the expense of the elderly." ~ In reality, Obama's cut to Medicare are to reimbursements to private insurers and doctors. Ryan's budget cuts the same amount from Medicare, but makes up for it by capping on how much a senior can receive in benefits.

3) Ryan claimed that Obama is allowing people to collect welfare checks by not working by allowing states to opt-out of the welfare to work program, when in actuality, the states have to prove that their program is more effective in putting people back to work in order to get a waiver, which is why GOP governors are asking for the waiver.

But the GOP never did care about facts, especially if they get in the way of a good lie.

1) The GM plant in Janesville continued to produce light and medium duty trucks pursuant to the Isuzu Motors contract until June of 2009. My father was one of the employees that worked there in 2009. Are you saying that his job or the vehicles that were produced in that plant during that time by the men and women of the UAW somehow don't count as the plant being open just because it wasn't running at full or normal capacity? Would you like to tell that to my father or the other 100 or so UAW workers to their faces? SHAME on you!!!

2) So the elderly will just have to settle for substandard care compared to what they were receiving before because Obama decided to cut doctors wages to fund his new health care program. And that makes Ryan a liar how exactly?

3) So some GOP governors are requesting waivers from the work-for-welfare requirement, but the you assert that Obama never offered such waivers! Yeah, there's definitely no conflict with that assertion! Honestly, do you actually think about any of this stuff before posting it, or is it all cut and pasted from the Daily Kos or similar liberal sites without much personal consideration?

Patzfahl - when did any of your blog postings ever contain a single indisputable objective FACT??? And yet, you slam the GOP premised upon your erroneous and easily debunked liberal talking point lies and propaganda?

Here's a link to the fact-checking - And most claims by the GOP at the convention were either "pants on fire" or a "lie".

1) The vote to close the GM plant was made in 2008 (George W. was president)

2 )Ryan is a liar because he says cutting from Medicare is terrible, but doesn't bother mentioning to tell the crowd that he cut the same $700 billion from Medicare, but instead of keeping the program basically as is like Obama does and saves $ by reimbursing insurance companies less, Paul Ryan caps what the elderly can spend, thus causing them to dig into their slacks to pay for their care after the cap has been reached.

3) The only way a state can get a waiver from the program is to show that their program is more effective in getting people to work and off welfare - sounds like something that you (and everyone should want). He is strengthening the requirement, not weakening it...

Jason, how about citing an unbiased (ie non-NPR) source.

1) The point wasn't that Barack Hussein Obama allowed the GM plant to close, but that he made a campaign promise that the plant would be open for "a hundred years". So if the closing wasn't his fault, why did he make a promise he wasn't in a position to keep?

2) Your link has a lot of rhetoric (like most of the Liberal comments about Ryan's plan) but no sources. This is directly from Ryan's plan ( http://roadmap.republicans.budget.house.gov/plan/#Healthsecurity ):

"For future Medicare beneficiaries who are now under 55 or younger (those who first become eligible on or after 1 January 2021), the proposal creates a standard Medicare payment to be used for the purchase of private health coverage. Currently enrolled Medicare beneficiaries and those becoming eligible in the next 10 years (i.e. turning 65 by 1 January 2021) will see no changes in the current structure of their Medicare benefits."..." For those eligible prior to that date (those 55 and older), the existing Medicare Program remains, and is strengthened with changes, such as income-relating of drug benefit premiums, to ensure its long-term sustainability."

3) There's alot of links out there (here's one: http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/08/09/obama-welfare-waiver-gutting-rules-or-tweaking ) disputing your source.

Both of you are sort of right. The plant closure was announced in 2008 while Bush was in office, but the product line was continued until 2010 while Obama was in office. But, the kicker is that the decision to continue operations was made to continue operations while Bush was in office. This discussion begs the question of what role the two president's played in their respective presidencies... but the biggest question is -- if government should have no role in business, should or could they have been saved? It's clear from the GM Pres statements though that the decision was market driven.
Here's what the pres of the company said at the time:
GM President Troy Clarke said the automaker’s forecasts necessitate one-shift production in Janesville into 2010.
“At the end of the day, this segment of the marketplace has almost collapsed,” Clarke said. “The decision is how we allocate our capacity.”
GM officials also said today that the plant’s medium-duty Isuzu truck line in Janesville will end production by the end of 2009. It employs fewer than 50 workers.
GM last spared the Janesville plant in 2005, when it pledged a $175 million investment to retool the plant for the newest version of Chevrolet Suburbans and Tahoes and GMC Yukon XLs and Yukons.
That product is expected to expire in 2010, as is the Janesville plant.

I don't think this is hardly something that one could argue as overreaching on the part of the federal government. Won't that eliminate a lot of precautionary decisions that are best left to the doctors of the specific individual patients? Isn't it better to be safe than sorry, or double check, - especially with someone's life?

Is readmission due to negligence in the health care profession really that big of a problem? You'd think that with all the sue happy lawyers out there that health care providers would assure that something so stupid would not be occurring en mass anymore, correct?

While I saw numerous stories about death threats against Governor Walker being made by the unhinged left, I've yet to see a single credible story about death threats being made against Tom Barrett by the right during the recall race

Blame your buddies on the left for the use of the screen name. It's not worth the harm of my family or business to use my real name, as I'm not currently running for office. That may change in the future if I decide to run for public office, as many have encouraged me to do.

And if you want to know the unfiltered truth about the ACA, why don't you try reading and analyzing the actual document itself instead of trusting in someone else's analysis?

Or is asking one to think for themselves too much trouble to ask?

Poorly run business need to be restructured. If unions help bring them down they need to be part of the solution . Obama plan was to punish everyone but his political donors....the union. There is a bankruptcy process in place in which the government doesnt need to "bleed " taxpayers who do it right for unions and companies that do it wrong. Capitalism is a profit / loss system. The losers fail when the costs of theyre efforts far exceed the worth of the goods they produce. In those cases.......failure and restructure should occur.
Jason you show a lot of ignorance by asking taxpayers and future generations to pay for the mistakes of companies and unions. So when you stand up for the Welfare program Government Motors received........you don't stand up for those who have to pay for it .

Ryan voted in favor of an auto bailout that consisted of a straight up interest bearing loan with a defined repayment schedule that the taxpayers actually would have made money off of, as Bush had originally set up the auto bailouts to be, and just like Carter successfully did it with Chrysler under Iaccoca back in '79.

What Romney and Ryan both fundamentally opposed was the way in which Obama handled the bailouts - behind closed doors in a smoke filled back room making crony deals with the UAW, the Italians, and the Canadians, and administrated by a self-appointed cars czar. A deal that we lost billions on!

Obama promised hope and change, remember? Transparency and closing the WH to lobbyists and cronyism. We were supposed to be able to watch all the negotiations on C-SPAN 3, remember? Honestly, did Obama deliver on any of those promises in regards to the way he conducted the auto bailouts?

And what vote are you talking about exactly? Did the GM board of directors vote to close the Janesville plant? If so, they also voted to close other plants that miraculously remained open after the bailout went through, remember?

http://www.nbc15.com/home/headlines/30818889.html

So if other plants slated for closure were spared and remained open, then why couldn't Janesville, the only plant that Obama directed a campaign speech about working to keep plants open.

All you do is spin - even more than a record does on one of Paul Oakenfold's turntables!

It turns out that if line the words from the all the bumper stickers together as one single sentence; then read it backwards. It is Nick Poulos' latest blog.

Weird!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is nice to see the republicans continue their high road and letting the liberals look like angry asshats. Please continue

Steve! This is the funniest comment you have every written on Patch. I don't often laugh out loud in front of my laptop but you forced it out of me. Well done! ; )

The misconception on the bailout is that GM did go bankrupt. It was structured by Obama and his buddies. The whole idea was to put the unions ahead of the stockholders. So the union was spared, the US taxpayers are out about 25 B and Obama gets union votes and campaign cash. Obama is a corporatist which basically means screw small business and control the large industry. This is what he is doing to health care and the banking industry. Time to wake up America and take back our country

JMB, your misconception is misconceived! ; ) I believe everyone realizes that the bailout saved GM from going under and taking approximately 1 million direct and indirect family sustaining jobs with it. The lessons of the Great Depression include the need to keep able-bodied people working, to pay back taxpayer dollars spent in taxes, and to avoid social unrest. Personally I'd rather spend $25b on helping my fellow Americans than overpaying mercenaries in Afghanistan when U.S. soldiers have actual training and would do a far better job.

I'm interested in this idea that Obama is a "corporatist." Who do you believe is behind ALEC and the Tea/GOP obstruction in Congress? ALEC is a special interest group whose mission is to write/promote Big Business-friendly legislation for its legislative members. It's like complaining about the "liberal media" when the media is owned by AOL/Time Warner, GE, News Corp., etc. Most are major international corporations. The health insurance industry is out of control, and the banking industry needs to have certain regulations re-established.

I absolutely agree that it's time to "wake up America." Let's not allow the greatest nation on earth to be consumed by greed.

Funny how Carter saved Chrysler under Iaccoca and all the direct and indirect jobs back in '79 without doing a behind closed doors in a smoke filled back room crony deal with the UAW, Italians, and Canadians, supervised by a self-appointed cars czar. It was just a straight up interest bearing loan with a defined repayment schedule - simple, to the point, and the taxpayers recovered every penny invested and actually made money off the interest charged.

Under Obama's deal, the taxpayer lost billions while the UAW, Italians, and big money private investors were allowed to swoop in and start profiting right away, all for themselves. Essentially, Obama just handed the UAW, Italians, and big money private investors billions of our tax dollars.

How do you defend this action? I thought you were against giving tax dollars to greedy and corporatist special interests?

Could you explain without shifting the subject or going into a story about a close family relative's personal experience?

Thanks!

Mr. Hoffa, Chrysler is beginning to pay back funds. As of earlier this month, GM is at $ .90 USD/share: http://money.cnn.com/2012/08/02/news/companies/gm-earnings/index.htm

And for any who believe that Obama is receiving direct political benefit from GM for the bailout, guess again: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/25/general-motors-political-donations_n_1699638.html

Darn! No personal story to illustrate my point? Because I was just about to share that I drove past a GMC truck this afternoon.

Again, you didn't directly answer the question. Instead, you just dodged and deflected.

Under the way Obama did the bailouts, the taxpayers will lose out on billions - this is not contended by anyone, it is a FACT.

Obama could have done the bailouts the way Carter did his and the way that Bush had originally set-up the bailouts to be, whereby the taxpayers would not have lost out on any money at all, but actually made money on the interest payments realized.

Now, again, please answer the question without dodging, deflection, or shifting the subject.

Take heart Jason. Republican Lindsey Graham (S.C.) said it best this week: "The demographics race we’re losing badly, We’re not generating enough angry white guys to stay in business for the long term.” That might actually make a good bumper sticker too.
