Every year the Maple Dale Indian Hill Educational Foundation has it’s annual Benefit Bash for parents and supporters of the school district. This year, the event is scheduled as a Cinco de Mayo Celebration on May 5. One of the challenges of promoting this event is to get the students excited about an event that their parents are going to attend. This year, it was pulled off with flying colors with a Salsa Taste Off.

The Maple Dale Salsa Taste Off was a collaboration of parents and teachers donating their favorite salsa and pico de gallo, a special hot lunch by Chef Mark from Taher, the MDIH PTO gathering volunteers, donations of tortilla chips from El Rey and photography by parent in the district, and patch.com favorite, Matt Heltsley.

There was even an appearance by celebrity guest Milwaukee Brewers Famous Chorizo Racing Sausage.  The kids and teachers sampled six varieties of salsa and pico de gallo and voted for their favorite. Top pick goes to El Rey for their pico de gallo, but a very close second place goes to the Shapiro Family for their Mango Salsa.

The students at Maple Dale had a lot of fun tasting the different salsa flavors and loved the voting. There is still time to join the adult fun of the Benefit Bash at the Cinco de Mayo Celebration. Tickets are $40 each or two for $70 and can be purchased here.

See you at the party!
