The highly ranked University School girls tennis team traveled to Kenosha Thursday to play a dual match with Kenosha St. Joseph. The Wildcats returned with a 7-0 victory.
The Wildcats did not lose a set all afternoon. In 1 singles, Maddy Ecker beat St. Joseph’s Alaina Anderson 6-3, 6-0. Meanwhile, in the 2 singles match, USM’s Ali Pollack beat Paige Moritz 6-1, 6-1. Emily Chrobak quickly dispatched Liana Milausaukes 6-1, 6-0 in 3 singles, and in 4 singles, Caroline Taylor beat Emily Bauerschmidt 6-1, 6-0.
In 1 doubles, USM’s Taylor Bernard and Nicole Harris knocked off Kristen Kalinska and Megan Irving 6-1, 6-2. Meredith Short and Julia Veitinger of USM beat Annie Wavco and Lindsey Thomas by a 6-1, 6-3 score, and in 3 doubles, Carly Black and Haley Gebhardt defeated Kara Horton and Amy Aschenbrener of St. Joseph 6-2, 6-2.
This weekend USM competes against some of the area’s top girls tennis teams when they play in the Nicolet Sweet Sixteen Tournament. Matches are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m at Nicolet and at USM.
