Year of the Beer: Brewers, Axe, and The Beast Mode

Baseball is a kid's game, and the Brewers seem to captivate that, all while still earning the "W" at the end of the day.

Besides the fact that the Milwaukee Brewers are nearly 10 games ahead of the second place St. Louis Cardinals – or maybe because of it - the Brewers are simply an exhilarating team to watch.

No doubt it was Nyjer Morgan who started the playful feel in the Brewers dugout. Not only are his post-game interviews and unexpected actions making headlines, but somehow his spirit in the clubhouse has made the entire organization put a smile on their face, including the first-time manager Ron Roenicke.

The fans have embraced this new sensation, getting just as eager to see the dugout shots of the players inventing the next “T” or “beast mode” celebration. Instead of just watching the nine innings of baseball, Brewers fans are committed and interested in the team beyond the diamond.

Twitter has taken Milwaukee by storm, from @therealtplush (Nyjer Morgan) tweeting what he’s eating for dinner, to @JohnAxford showing fans his version of an AXE advertisement he created with Photoshop on an off day.

The excitement that radiates from the team to the fans makes the city glow with a new shine.  The fans are getting so involved and devoted to the Brewers - and vise versa - that they are now a part of something colossal.  There is an undeniable bond; even fans from all over the country can feel as though they are part of the passion through the enthusiasm this team gives off.

#YearoftheBeer

It is indeed the “Year of the Beer” - a wildly trending Twitter topic - as Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder, and Morgan are on Sports Illustrated magazine, making this the first time in 24 years that the Brewers are exclusively on the cover.

Brewers’ closer and mustache man, John Axford, continues to grab the attention of the fans, as he is featured in Maxim magazine showing how he spends $848. Although he is a closer, which gives him the rights to be “quirky," it just proves, again, how much fun these Brewers players are.

Regardless of how silly or lighthearted the Brewers are, they continue to put up incredible numbers that put them in an excellent position to make an impression in October's postseason.

Reaching the postseason is something that the Brewers fans are now looking forward to. They continue to take this whimsical ride of walk-off celebrations and interviews where shaving cream pies are thrown.

That is the fun of it: the unexpected moments of entertaining childish behavior. Because above all, baseball is a kid’s game, and the Brewers seem to captivate that, all while still earning the "W" at the end of the day.
