Coyote Chronicles: Fox Point, Bayside Residents Share Critter Tales

Co-existing with wild animals may seem like a quaint idea, but sometimes things can get challenging. A number of residents have seen coyotes in the area and report that they've lost pets.

Coyotes have been seen in a number of neighborhoods in Fox Point and Bayside, and some coyotes have been going after people’s pets.

To address their concerns, residents are invited to an informational workshop on coyotes, which will be held at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 6 in the Bayside Middle School cafeteria, 601 E. Ellsworth Lane.

But we wanted to see where this was taking place, how people were feeling about co-existing with coyotes and how many they had seen. So we asked our Facebook page for our Fox Point-Bayside Patch readers: “Got coyote woes? Do you see one or two, a whole pack? Are you scared? What's your experience been?”

Susie LaBrasca Hendricks Have seen them at the SANC (Schlitz Audubon Nature Center). Plenty here in River Hills too. The informational meeting is a good idea!

Elisa Summers In our backyard..1 to two at a time. Ironwood lane. Not at all.. We stay in when they ate around

Ann Moran Deuser Several times a year, we see one cut through our backyard around dusk. Our neighbors report they often see them around. I don't feel threatened. I feel bad for all our friends who have lost pets due to the coyote issue.

Diane Brown One went through my yard on Monday morning. Fox lane. He was looking hungry

Jen Oechler-Haraway Heard a number of them in our neighborhood mid-August. They were attacking some critter. This was around Spooner & Santa Monica.
