Aaron Zetley competed against students from 68 other countries and brought home one of the bronze medals for his turbine design in the International Sustainable Energy Olympiad.

Welcome to Names in the News, Fox Point-Bayside Patch's new weekly column, where we introduce you to a local face.

Last week we sat down with who is retiring after 36 years in the district.

This week, we're chatting with Aaron Zetley (AZ), a  freshman who was awarded a bronze medal at I-SWEEEP, an international sustainable energy conference, in Texas on May 6. Aaron created a hydroelectric turbine that harnesses man-made water systems and he competed against more than 1,000 other students from 68 countries, taking home one of the bronze medals.

Patch: How did you get involved with I-SWEEEP and what keeps you doing it or why do you like it?

AZ: I qualified because I won my division at the Science Fair and then at the Wisconsin Badger State Science Fair, I won the chance to go to I-SWEEEP. I like I-SWEEEP because I met hundreds of people from 68 countries and 44 US states that all loved science and wanted to make the world a better place.

Patch: What are you most proud of?

AZ: That my hard work on my project was very rewarding.

Patch: What influences or inspires you?

AZ: My mentor, Dr. Steven Russek, Albert Einstein and my hope to change the world.

Patch: What ways do you think others can get involved and make a difference?

AZ: Participate and work hard on your science fair project, have a mentor and encourage more local students to participate in I-SWEEEP.
