Soccer Games Are For Neighborhood Kids in Bayside

Think there's no such thing as informal "pickup" games for kids anymore? Think again. These Bayside parents hold them every Tuesday and Thursday at the middle school.

So who says kids don't play pickup games anymore?

Bayside parents Aaron Callender and Paki Kalonihea oversee a loosely organized soccer session for neighborhood kids every Tuesday and Thursday in front of Bayside Middle School.

Most of the kids -- who are a mix of ages, boys and girls -- play in a club during that regular season. Their twice-weekly sessions are casual but not open to the public -- "I know all of these kids," Callender said -- and there is a minimal amount of parental involvement.
