Taz Lives Up to Her Devil Name, but Has Won Over a Slew of Hearts

This little kitty will play fetch and not waste a single scrap left unattended.

Editor's Note: Creature Feature is a special spotlight for our furry friends, but not just dogs. We'll feature any animal that's special to you, whether they're a dog, cat, ferret or fish β€” if they bring you joy, they fit our spotlight column.

Our second Creature Feature nomination is for Taz, or Snoop Cat, from Bayside, nominated by Amy Roedl Dodge.

What makes Taz unique?

Her name is a bit of a joke. To my husband and I she's "Taz…yes," that's short for Tasmanian Devil - and she lives up to that name. To our son, she's "Snoop Cat." Either way, she's a Dodge and has brought about much joy and laughter to our home.

Our best guess about her origins is she's definitely a mix breed, but predominately Egyptian Mau. You see, she has this awesome pouch for an under belly and the trademark 'M' on her forehead. This extra fold of skin allows her to run incredibly fast and she uses that stealth agility to sneak up on poor Lucky (the Dodge's older cat) and any unsuspecting ankles. Yes she likes to bite, but when reprimanded she immediately turns to licking and gives you that, "What, me?" look.

The strangest, or coolest, thing Taz does?

Mau's are known for their fetching and retrieving skills. Taz will chortle away while she's bringing back a small paper wad or any kitty toy. Then she'll flop and wait for you to throw again. We gave her a small teddy bear that she loves to wrestle with and lick.

Taz's favorite dish?

Well, let's just say don't leave the chicken on the counter or the shrimp or the beef for that matter. The girl's got a healthy appetite.

We love Taz/Snoop Cat and are honored she's been selected as Creature Feature for the Fox Point-Bayside Patch.
