The Village Scrapbook: The Great Rake Out

Submissions from residents showcasing a day-in-the-life in Fox Point and Bayside.

Mark Wagner, German teacher at , took these pictures of the German Club's 2011 Central City Great Rake Out. Here's what she had to say about the event:

A total of 16 students joined with the Dominican Center for Women and Hephatha Lutheran Youth group to clear the yards of 12 elderly and disabled residents from the Locust Avenue neighborhood. Kids also donated coffee and creamer in support of the Center's GED program.

On a day which will go down as one of the sadder ones for our school, these young people helped the needy, and discovered community where they did not expect it. One of the more poignant moments was when kids from the Hephatha youth group prayed for . Healing can happen when lots of people show they care.
