Woman Accused Of Hit And Run, Almost Running Over Officer

Dawn Geske, of New Berlin, is accused of crashing her car into a tree in Caledonia, but she was also wanted by the New Berlin Police Department for trying to run over a West Allis police officer.

A woman, who is suspected of trying to run over a West Allis Police officer with the car she was driving, is accused of crashing her car into a tree in Caledonia, according to police.

Dawn Geske, 37, of New Berlin, was cited for hit and run and failing to have control over her vehicle at 12:47 p.m. Wednesday in the 9200 block of Caddy Lane in Caledonia. But Geske is also accused of criminal damage to property, and hit and run in West Allis, and endangering safety in New Berlin.

According to an officer with the West Allis Police Department, Geske allegedly threw a hammer through the window of a residence in West Allis at 9:08 a.m. Wednesday, then fled the scene and went back to her New Berlin home. A West Allis Police officer went to her home to investigate and he was talking to Geske when she went inside the garage and got into her car. She backed out of the driveway where the officer was standing and almost struck the officer.

According to a report by the Caledonia Police Department, Geske crashed her 2004 Honda Civic into a ditch and walked away from the scene. Police noted the car was listed in an attempt to locate by the New Berlin Police Department. They were looking for Geske because she was suspected of trying to run down a West Allis Police Officer.

A Caledonia police officer found Geske, who was carrying her dog, walking along Nicholson Road at Maple Drive. When police confronted her, Geske told them she wasn’t involved in the hit and run crash.

However, a witness told police that he saw Geske while he was outside getting his mail and saw that several items were “all over the ditch line” and watched Geske push her car into the ditch.

“She then walked southbound right past him, not saying anything,” the witness told police.

According to the report, Geske drove her car into a tree and her spare tire, jack and other items had flown out of the trunk. The car had stopped running and she tried to push it out, but it “rolled into the east ditch line down into a tree.”

Geske kept telling the officer she wasn’t in a car crash and that the spare tire, jack and other items weren’t hers. Police found beer, one six-pack on the ground and several others in the trunk along with $4,000 in cash, according to the report.

Police towed the car and handed the cash over to New Berlin for their investigation of the incident with the West Allis Police officer.
