'Do-it-Yourself' Art Studio Should Open Soon in Audubon Court

With no concerns from the Building Board, Art Trooper store likely to get OK from Village Board Tuesday.

With a postive recommendation from the Monday, Art Trooper is one step closer to opening at the Audubon Shopping Center on Brown Deer Road.

Art Trooper is described by owner and Bayside resident Ann Deuser as a "walk-in, make-it-yourself art studio."

"Customers come in and they can make art right on site," Deuser told the board.

Projects can range from pottery, painting, mosaics, jewelry making to canvas painting, and clay building. Art Trooper even supplements schools that have lost some of their art funding.

Deuser opened Art Trooper three years ago in Mequon and wants to relocate to the Audubon Shopping Center. Because the center is partially in Fox Point, and partially in Bayside, Deuser must go before each board for approval before she can relocate.

The Bayside Village Board has yet to take action on her request.

If approved, Art Trooper will be open seven days a week: Monday through Thursday, and Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. , and Sunday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. .

The Fox Point Village Board will take up the Building Board's recommendation to issue a temporary use permit at its meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
