Tuesday Movie Fest: Mexican Fiesta

This week's film, "Sleeper Dealer", was the winner of two prestigious awards at the Sundance Film Festival. Director Alex Rivera describes it as "a humble film...an honest attempt to use science-fiction film to say something new and something true about our world."  The story takes place in the near future in Mexico.  Memo's family is trying to raise crops in a remote village which is made even more difficult when the U.S. dams the river they need for water.  He flees to Tijuana where he becomes a "plugged in" worker, working remotely from south of the border since the border with the U.S. is now closed.  He finds a strange world of border walls, remote-controlled drones, implanted nodes and aqua-terrorist.  Join us in the Community Room of the North Shore Library for this thought-provoking free film.
