Maple Dale Students Show Their Mastery of Knowledge
Seventh and eighth-graders at Maple Dale Middle School come out on top at the Knowledge Masters Open.
Maple Dale Middle School seventh and eighth-graders along with thousands of students throughout the world battled last week in the 53rd Annual Knowledge Master Open academic challenge.
Select students from the two grade level teams faced off to answer 200 tough multiple choice questions, earning them points for both speed and accuracy. The questions were taken from 15 subject areas including history, government, current events, economics, law, geography, language Arts, mathematics, science, fine arts, and trivia. The students are able to submit answers online, allowing schools the opportunity to compete in a worldwide event without the expense of traveling to a central location.
The eighth-graders took second at the state level. Congratulations to team members Alex Bidard, Arielle Bordow, Maddy Folstein, William Han, Amanda Jacobs, Emma Juettner, Stella Kleynerman, Jubilee Hou, Martin Muenster, Greta Ricigliano, Charles Rinderle and Zachary Wahrman.

The seventh grade team also placed a notable seventh at the state level. Team members included Riccardo Romersi, Saurav Desai, August Eurich, Taka Ishikuri, Raman Kashpar, Morgan Kramer, Avi Paley, Austin Schmidt and Wendy Trattner.
“The students worked hard and learned important group dynamics skills," coach and teacher Dyan Wagner said. "Learning was turned into a tremendously enjoyable time for them.”

Students devoted extra time to do independent research, even using their lunch hours for obtaining, applying and sharing knowledge with one another. Their efforts paid off with impressive statewide standings.
