A 4- run rally and a game-ending trick play sent Nicolet into Friday's WIAA Summer Baseball sectional final.
The Knights stunned West Bend East 5-3 and face West Bend West at 4:30 p.m. at Cedarburg.
Nicolet scored two runs in the fifth to tie the game at 3. In the seventh, they loaded the bases against East ace Matt Schubert. Ben Henken then looped a two-run double to right for the winning runs.
East put runners on first and second with two outs against closer Alex Braun in the seventh.
Then Braun whirled and faked a throw to second. Fielders dove and yelled in an effort to convince the runner that the ball was thrown wild into the outfield.
It worked, as the confused runner tried to take third and was an easy out.
