The Lift Pilates Studio Coming Soon to Fox Point

New pilates studio is only one of two in the Midwest featuring vertical pilates training.

The Lift Pilates Studio is on it's way to Audubon Court. The new pilates studio hopes to be in by July and will bring not only another way to get fit in Fox Point, but a unique angle to pilates.

“We will be one of only two studios in the Midwest to offer this new CoreAlign training,” said Patty McNichols, owner. It is only available in Chicago and in a few places in the far western United States.  “We will be unique in the Milwaukee area.”

CoreAlign is a form of vertical training, whereas pilates is mostly horizontal. It's an exercise system that was recently developed by Jonathan Hoffman, a physical therapist from Israel who emphasizes the importance of understanding and mastering the body’s kinetics.

“People need more standing these days," she said. "Most people sit at computers all day.  They need more alignment to their muscles so they can sit for eight hours on the job.”  CoreAlign gives conditioning for proper standing and body alignment.

The Lift Pilates will offer classes and individual pilates training, and will focus on the core muscles to keep an individual’s body in perfect balance and the mind in control. McNichols, and other certified trainers, will teach patrons to exercise intelligently.

But while these classes are available for people of all ages and fitness levels, McNichols said that they will be especially good for athletes, particularly girls.  Since females have different core development than males, the lateral training of pilates and CoreAlign will help prevent knee problems that plague female athletes more than males.

The Lift Pilates will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to noon on Sunday.

McNichols will go before the regular Village Board for final approval at its regular April 12 meeting. She said she hopes to open the new facility in Audubon Court in about three months.  “We’re looking at July if all goes according to plan,” she said.
