Walter's Loft Consignments Opens in Fox Point

Are you looking for high-end furniture at a discount price? 

Walter's Loft hopes to meet that need. Located next to Calderone Club in the Bradley Place shopping center, Walter's Loft is a high-end consignment store that helps customers sell their old furniture to customers seeking designer furniture at a discounted price.

With names like Ethan Allen, Century and Room & Board in stock, store owners Scott Krueger and Carrie (Stepke) Dlugosch say they are working with interior designers and realtors to dig up fine furnishings that catch their eye.

"We are selective about what we take in the store," Krueger said. "We have an eye for what customers are looking for and what they like."

Krueger first started Walter's Loft – named after his four-year-old son Walter – last year as an online store, primarily focused on helping friends sell everything from boats and scooters to furniture and other items.  For the last six months, he  and Dlugosch, who grew up in Fox Point, have been talking about opening a brick-and-mortar store. The online store will continue to have unique items, in addition to all those items featured inside the store.

Krueger said he wanted to open a retail space because it gives customers a chance to see items in person, as well as browse around and brainstorm ideas for furnishing their living room, bedroom or kitchen.

"They can see and feel the items, which they couldn't do before," he said. "The vignettes give them a feel for what it would look like in their own home."

The 2,200-square-foot retail space combines two spaces in the Bradley Place shopping mall that were previously occupied by North Shore Podiatry and New Again Resale.

Walter's Loft plans to hold a grand opening on July 1. The business, which also offers pickup and delivery for its customers, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday; noon to 3 p.m. Sunday and is closed on Monday.
