Rotary Names Service Above Self Award Winners

Local high School students are being recognized for the academic achievement and community service.

On Monday, the Rotary Club of Northshore Milwaukee will present the Sevice Above Self Award to 14 high school seniors. These students are from the , Whitefish Bay, Domincan, Brown Deer, , Shorewood and Homestead high schools.

Each of these students have distinguished themselves academically and in community service. The keynote speaker will be Jon Schnur. Jon received this award from the Rotary club over 20 years ago and went on to graduate from Princeton University with honors. Jon served in the Clinton administration in a  number of capacities for nine years. He recently acted as a educational consultant to the Obama administration as well. While at Harvard Business School, Jon and a number of classmates formed New Leaders for New Schools, an organization that trains principals for public and charter schools. They have successfully assisted in the strengthening schools in the Washington D.C., New Orleans, San Francisco and New York school districts. Jon currently serves as the Chairman of New Leaders and was recently recognized by Shorewood High School as an honor graduate.
