Milwaukee County First Responders Receive State of the Art Equipment

Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele will present new cardiac monitors to Fire Departments and EMS Responders on Monday, May 20th.

In honor of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele will present new cardiac monitors to Fire Departments and EMS Responders on Monday, May 20th at the North Shore Fire Department, 4401 W. River Lane in Brown Deer.

“These monitors are the latest in life-saving equipment and the program is part of our continuing strong collaboration with local fire departments. When seconds can be the difference, it’s reassuring to know Milwaukee County residents have the best care available,” Abele said.

As part of the 2013 budget, Milwaukee County EMS purchased 45 ZOLL Medical X Series cardiac monitors for paramedic first responders.

The new monitors provide a number of advantages, including:

  • Wi-Fi abilities, which allows EMS units to transmit information to hospitals easier and in a timely manner which has shown to improve patient outcomes.
  • Ability to obtain and share real-time critical data elements.
  • Ability to quickly take serial ECGs, which is important when monitoring a heart attack patient.
  • Improved patient assessment data collection.
