Bayside Girl Named State Finalist in National American Miss Wisconsin Pageant

13 year-old Madeleine Falk all set to compete in the state pageant to be held Aug. 26-27 at the Chula Vista Resort in the Wisconsin Dells.

A 13 year-old Bayside girl has been chosen as a State Finalist in the National American Miss Wisconsin pageant to be held in the Wisconsin Dells Aug. 26-27. Madeleine Falk, a student at Bayside Middle School, will compete in the pageant after being sponsored by several area businesses.

“I was both honored and flattered that they accepted me and I’m really excited,” said Falk. “Even if I don’t win I will have a lot fun along the way.”

The National American Miss pageants are held for girls ages 4-18 and feature five different age divisions. Falk will compete in the preteen division against other young ladies across the Badger state.  The winner of the pageant, which will be held at the Chula Vista Resort, will receive $1,000 cash, the official crown and banner, a trophy, roses and air transportation and sponsor fees to compete in the national pageant in California in October.

“There’s an introduction where they get to talk about who they are, where they go to school and their interests,” said Susie Falk, Madeleine’s mother. “Then there is a formalwear competition and a question and answer part of this and we don’t know the questions in advance. For the community involvement section of the pageant, the girls really do have to show that they are involved in various organizations or contributing somehow to the community. That’s the reason I’m most excited about this contest because the girls do have to think about their lives and how they fit into the community and how they contribute.”

Girls under the age of 12 are not allowed to wear make-up and there is no swimsuit competition. The pageant is based on poise, presentation, community involvement and inner beauty. It places its emphasis on the importance of gaining self-confidence, learning good sportsmanship, and setting and achieving personal goals.

“For community involvement, I participated in a beach clean-up with my friends and I also put up lemonade stands to help raise money for the MS Society,” said Madeleine. “If I win I will probably put the prize money towards college.”

Several area businesses are sponsoring Falk in the pageant including TechStrength, , , , The Falk Group Public Relations and Dr. Morris Firebaugh.
