Book About Witch's House Out This Month

"Mary Nohl A Lifetime in Art", a book about late Fox Point resident Mary Nohl and the famed art environment she created at and around her home is now available from the Wisconsin Historical Society.

A book about the late Mary Nohl and the well-known Witch's House of Fox Point is the latest in the Wisconsin Historical Society's Badger Biographies series.

Mary Nohl: A Lifetime in Art tells the story of the local woman who transformed her home and yard into a fantasy land of art. She died in 2001, but her home is a national historic site, and the art inside the home and on the property has been preserved.

Mary decorated the interior of her cottage with bright colors an eye-catching figures in driftwood and glass. During her later years, her home became known as “the Witch’s House”-a place of local legend known far beyond Fox Point. Though she died in 2001, Mary’s legacy continues. Her art is held at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan, and her home is a National Historic Site.
