Don't Flush That: Keeping Drinking Water Safe

Prescription drugs can contaminate drinking water when flushed down the toilet.

Have unwanted, expired, or unused prescription drugs?  Make sure they don't end up in the wrong hands or your drinking water.  Did you know, flushing prescription drugs down the toilet can lead to drinking water contamination? 

Bring your unused, expired or unwanted prescription drugs to the (even if the label doesn't say your name)!  An Officer will inventory the item and make sure it is properly disposed of.  In 2011, the Village collected nearly 200 pounds of medications, ensuring the items are disposed of correctly and safely, and most importantly keeping them out of the wrong hands and out of the water supply.
