Whiz Kid of the Week: 5th and 6th Graders Raise Money for Whooping Cranes and Earthquake Relief Effort

Each week, Fox Point and Bayside Patch seeks suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens, and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments.

This week, a Fox Point investigator suggested we take a look at some students at Maple Dale Middle School who set a goal to raise $50 in one week from a bake sale to help whooping cranes. Amazingly, they raised $500 in just three days.

The children will have worked the bake sale for five days, with three lunch hours every day.
