Glovebox Held More Than License and Registration

A hidden pot stash turned a minor traffic violation into a drug arrest last week.

One driver's incomplete stop at a stop sign ended up in a citation for marijuana possession last week in Bayside.

A Bayside cop pulled the vehicle over at 10:05 p.m. on June 12 when the male driver failed to come to a complete stop at Brown Deer Road and Pelham Parkway. When the officer asked him for his license and registration, he told police he did not know where his parents kept those legal documents.

The officer told him that most people keep those documents in the glove compartment. When the driver opened up the glove compartment, the police officer could see a marijuana pipe and an orange pill bottle containing about two grams of marijuana. The driver was not under the influence of marijuana at the time.

The driver was cited for possession of marijuana and failure to stop at a stop sign.
