Nicolet Hires New Curriculum Director

Brenda Turner comes to Nicolet after four years at Wilmot Union High School.

Brenda Turner will bring 17 years of experience to the Nicolet School District in her new role as the district's director of curriculum and instruction.

Turner comes to Nicolet after four years as the director of teaching and learning at Wilmot Union High School in southwestern Kenosha County. She is replacing Lisa Elliot, who served as curriculum director for two years before taking a superintendent position in the Greenfield School District.

Prior to Wilmot, she worked one year as the training and resource manager at The New Teacher Project; one year as the principal of DBN Choice School in Milwaukee; and three years as the associate principal of Pewaukee High School. She began her education career as an English teacher at Messmer High School and Nathan Hale High School.

Turner said she was drawn to Nicolet because of the district's reputation for excellence, and because she is a single mother whose child attends a nearby high school.

In her application to the board, she said her career goal is to "capitalize on (her) expertise as a school leader in order to motivate and train others in (her) core belief that all children can learn and be successful."
