Roundup: What Did You Miss While on Spring Break?

Here's a recap of the biggest news for the week of April 9 when local school districts were on spring break vacation.

Area school districts, including , and were on spring break last week, but that doesn't mean the news stopped.

On Thursday, a Bayside home on Rexleigh Drive caught fire and fire departments from four counties were needed to put out the blaze. In this video, North Shore Fire Department Robert Whitaker explains why so many departments were needed and if he thinks having municipal water throughout Bayside would have stopped the fire sooner.

Earlier this month state that they were running “protest candidates” against senators targeted for recall, as well as Gov. Scott Walker and Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch. Patch took a look at some of the candidates and asked them, quite simply, if they are fake.

Thursday's house fire in Bayside wasn't the only one in the North Shore last week. A Glendale home, right on the border of Fox Point, caught fire on Wednesday. The family is now living in a hotel while they work with their insurance company, but friends have stepped up and started a fund to help the family with day-to-day expenses.

The Bridge Lane Ravine Footbridge in Fox Point has been a contentious topic among residents for the two years the bridge has been closed. While there are plenty of people on both sides of the debate (some wanting to replace the bridge and others saying simply tear it down), both sides have come to agreement on one thing — it's time to make a decision. Village President Michael West took action on the infamous bridge at their meeting Tuesday and his movement is getting mixed reviews.
