A look back at the top headlines from Fox Point-Bayside Patch in 2011.

At year's end it's nice to take a look back at where you came, which offers a good look at where you're going. At Patch, March was explosive with news as major changes for public employees were implemented in Madison, there were heated debates among three candidates for Nicolet School Board seats and so much more. Take a look at the most popular stories for the month of March.

Fox Point-Bayside Patch hosted a forum for the three Nicolet School Board candidates that were all vying to fill two positions. The youngest of the three, 27-year-old Andrew Cegielski, was the focus of many questions from residents. At  times it was heated and included occasional outbursts from the audience, requiring Cegielski address the issue of his criminal record.

Immediately following the vote on the , GOP Assembly members bee-lined it out of the Capitol and protesters quickly showed their disapproval.

Crowds chanted wildly from the rotunda, and one member even had a bullhorn. Officers had to wear earplugs to withstand the noise, and drums and trumpets could be heard in in time with the chants. Even the , stating he would not leave until workers' voices were heard.

Imagine air so thick with smoke that it fills every crevice of the building, creating a darkness as black as oil. The only oxygen is that from a face mask delivered via a tube from the tank strapped to your back. The ceiling has collapsed, and you're trapped in a net of wires.

Do you call Mayday, or believe you can get yourself out? And if you don't get out, what about your family? 

These are some of the thoughts that race through a firefighter's mind when trying to escape "the box," a three-foot-by-three-foot, cube-shaped tunnel, crisscrossed with 86 wires too thick to break.

The Fox Point-Bayside School District was looking at a $800,309 budget deficit in the 2011-12 school year. In response to those projected cuts, the district will shed the equivalent of nearly 10 full-time positions next year.

and the Milwaukee County Bomb Squad were called to a home in the 7000 block of North Yates Road Sunday after Leslie Hayes found what was believed to be a World War II grenade at the house.
