Nasty Weather Headed This Way

A double whammy of severe weather is expected to hit southeastern Wisconsin this weekend as the National Weather Service is calling for two separate storms to hit the region on Saturday and Sunday.

The service is predicting severe thunderstorm both days, and says there is a possibility for hail or even tornadoes.

Another strong push of warm and humid air will head to southern Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon and evening. That storm could bring hail and damaging wind gusts, the service says. It adds that an isolated tornado "can not be ruled out."

But the worst of it will come Sunday afternoon and evening, according to the weather service, as a deep low pressure system moves in from the west. Again, the service warns that that storm has the potential for more widespread severe weather, with large hail, damaging winds and the possibility of tornadoes.

In Fox Point and Bayside, the local weekend forecast calls for a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday, but that increases to an 80 percent chance by Saturday night. The National Weather Service says Sunday night will bring more rain and storms, which should end before 1 a.m. Monday.
