Kids: Trade your Halloween Candy for Toys & Chance for Family Movie Pack

This Halloween, Lakeshore Family Dentistry at 7155 North Port Washington Road is
encouraging young 2013 trick-or-treaters in the Glendale area to trade in their Halloween candy.

“As a local family dentist, the amount and type of candy that is put into little one’s
pillowcases during trick-or-treating really scares me because it can cause tooth decay, or
worse yet, can break kids’ teeth,” said Dr. Abbey LaManna, DDS.

Dr. LaManna said that besides king-size candy bars, giant-sized jawbreakers and rock-
hard candy, another nightmare is the sticky, chewy stuff like caramels and Starburst.
“It’s the sticky candy that gets stuck into the pits and grooves of teeth,” says LaManna.
“If the sugars from this type of candy is not properly brushed away, children are
more at risk for cavities.”

She is planning to encourage young treat-or-treaters to sort through their candy and trade
in the bad stuff at her office for something a little healthier for their teeth.

Kids can trade in their sticky Halloween candy at Lakeshore Family Dentistry’s office for
a chance to win one of four $25 family movie packs at Fox Bay Cinema Grill. In
addition, each child will also be able to pick from Lakeshore Family Dental’s treasure
box. All candy collected will be donated to military troops.

The sticky Halloween candy trade will take place from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on
Tuesday, October 29. This is the Tuesday after Glendale’s Halloween trick-or-treating,
which happens on Sunday, October 27 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Dr. LaManna shares her thoughts on the worst candy to hand out, as well as teeth friendly
alternatives on her website, www.bloglakeshore-familydentistry.com.
