Rosh Hashana Services - Day 1

9:00am Morning Services
All you ever wanted to know about prayer but didn’t get around to asking... With all of the time you’ll be spending in Shul these days, might as well make it rewarding. During services, we’ll discuss some of the fundamental challenges and questions we have about prayer. If you really want to make your time work, email Rabbi Shmaya at shmaya@shulcenter.org and he’ll include your questions in his talk. Plus, every prayer book will include a High Holiday Reader for you to peruse at your leisure.

10:00am to 12:00pm High Holiday Youth Services
In-depth and age appropriate youth services. Kids will have a hands-on chance to learn about different kinds of Shofars and play interactive Rosh Hashana themed games. Older children will learn all about the meaning behind the Tashlich Service to be held later in the day and share newly acquired knowledge during a quick mini-sermon with the adults. The teen discussion with Rabbi Mendy will center around “Help! Where is Life’s Undo Button?”Lunch: deli sandwiches, chips, fruit, and drinks

11:15am Rabbi’s Talk

11:45am Shofar Blowing
Kid’s program members will join the adults for this most important moment of the Holiday, and display some of their newly acquired knowledge.

1:30pm Celebrate with a Festive Kiddush!
Now that your soul is satiated, enjoy grilled turkey, avocado and mango salad, and sweet potato hash.2:45pm Family Tashlich ServiceWe’ll head to the lakefront for Tashlich services. (Want to know more? Come on by, we’ll explain.)

3:15pm Got Shofar, will travel!
You can sign on to join the Shul’s “Ground Forces” as they canvas the neighborhood, paying home visits with Shofar in hand to Jews who were unable to attend synagogue services. You’ll love the rewarding feeling that comes with this mitzvah. To sign on, email Mendy@shulcenter.org. (Walking shoes not provided.)
