This Saturday we welcome back the Mambo Surfers at 10:00.
The group received the “Ethnic/World Group” of the Year Award from the Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) in 2000. Their genre-bending original music
combines influences of the blues, Bollywood, Native American chants, reggae, and rock ‘n’ roll.
The group includes:
Ron Jones (guitar/vocals), Native American of Hochungara descent, whose lyrics reflect his storyteller’s tradition. He is fluent on guitar and other stringed instruments as well.
Saji Villoth (guitar/vocals), developed his lyricism and sense of melody listening to various types of music growing up in south India and Kuwait.
Darrell Williams (bass, vocals), brings a background of gospel, funk and jazz as well as solid bass and vocals and an exuberance on stage.
Lon Coulliard (drums/percussion) brings inventive drum and percussion playing to the group. He often makes the instruments he needs to produce the sounds he is seeking.
