Meet Kelly Herda - Candidate for Village of Bayside Trustee

Kelly Herda announces her candidacy for Village of Bayside Trustee

I am excited to announce my candidacy for Village of Bayside Trustee! My husband and I decided to raise our children in Bayside because of the wonderful school system and for the culturally diverse, family-friendly neighborhoods. We couldn't imagine living anywhere else!

My husband John and I have lived in Bayside since 1999 and have three daughters - Chelsea, Carly and Cassie, and our dog, Curly Lambeau. I have been actively engaged in our community as a past school board member at Nicolet High School for six years and as a volunteer for many Village of Bayside initiatives. From developing a volunteer based crossing guard program at our most dangerous intersections to communications and community outreach for the City Water project, I have had the opportunity to work with our Village administration and police department on many of our Village projects.

I grew up in Whitefish Bay and joined the United States Navy after graduating from Whitefish Bay High School. Currently, I am co-founder and senior partner at Prown and Associates, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in assisting nonprofits with communications, advocacy and fundraising. Aside from my consulting business, I also serve as the District Leader for Wisconsin’s 5th Congressional district and a Policy Committee Member for the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition.

My professional work and community service helped me to develop strong skills in public policy, successful collaboration, and communication. I believe these skills make me uniquely qualified to serve as Village Trustee.

I have a long track record of organizing effective coalitions representing diverse religious, racial and economic communities, bringing them together for successful collaboration that effected positive change in public policy.  As Vice President and Legislative Chair of the Nicolet School Board, I developed additional expertise in educational policy and in creating effective communications to better inform constituents and business owners about proposed legislation and to empower them to mobilize and act strategically.

I would be honored to earn your vote and serve as your Village Trustee.  Please visit my Facebook page to learn more about my campaign and where I stand on issues impacting our Village.

Dave, thank you for a thoughtful comment, "...privatize the gains and socialize theRead More losses" gives a lot to think about. I also wish we had looked at restructuring the tax code to cover two unfunded wars.

“The state is only a year out of the recall mess that stalled any real change and any outsideRead More investment.” [WI = Mississippi II] What real change has been stalled? The “Love” Gov. Walker of yours has had his way with passing austerity, Neanderthal budgets, disenfranchising voters, repealing fair wages for women, Act 10, marginally crippling unions, because they invariably support the middle class and Democratic party, putting Billions on the credit card, and then, disingenuously claiming to have “balanced the budget” and created a huge surplus as well, and now – think small government here – is moving forward with ultrasounds for all women contemplating abortion, and we cannot forget the “mine” which, will create 700 low paying permanent jobs for Wisconsinites… all of these masterful initiatives have one thing in common: they are all tied up in the courts, and will not be resolved for years, and, the taxpayers of Wisconsin are all paying for Steve’s love affair with the “Love” Gov. Walker and his serial abortions… What will you say on June 5, 2014, when WI is the same as it is today or worse? I know. “Well, it is only 2-years out of the recall mess…”
