First Doctors Park Friends Cleanup a Huge Success

What a positive difference a few hours can make. Doctors Park Friends holds first park and beach clean-up day on Earth Day weekend.

Thank you to the many volunteers who arrived at Doctors Park at 9 a.m. on Saturday and worked non-stop until noon.  There were even some people who went back to the park after lunch and worked a few more hours!

A variety of work was completed at the first Doctors Park Friends clean-up day, including: sweeping sand off the walkways near the playground, pulling garlic mustard and other invasive plants, cleaning the gutters on the bath house, raking several areas, picking up litter throughout the park and beach, removing three picnic tables and a barrel from the bottom of the ravine, clearing sand, mud and invasive plants from the stairway starting at the beach and leading up to the bath house, power washing the restroom building, and so many other chores.

Today was a huge success and it would not have been possible without the many volunteers, including Kelli Gabel and Jordan Paul who planned the event and provided beverages and snacks to fuel the workers.

There's a lot more work to be done at the park and today was a great start.
