Nicolet Athletic Update: 11.26.12

 

The NHS Boys Basketball team: The Knights lost a home non-conference game to Waukesha North last Tuesday 52-44.  Leading by a point after the 3rd Quarter, the Knights went cold in the 4th Quarter as the Northstars pulled away.  Greg Pigg led the Knights with 19 points while Jimmie Scales had a career high 9 rebounds.  This week, the team will play at home against Whitefish Bay on Tuesday night and also host Homestead on Friday night (5:45pm for Frosh and JV/ 7:30pm for Varsity).

The NHS Girls Basketball team: The Lady Knights won their opener against Waukesha South last Tuesday on the road 41-35.  Senior Briana Gray led the scoring with 19 points but it was a total team effort with standout defensive performances from Lanoira Duhart and Katherine Richter.  The girls then travelled to Brookfield Central on Saturday and lost a tough game to Beaver Dam 41-35 in a Thanksgiving Tournament.  Nicolet had a 1 point lead going into half.  Down by 12 with 3 minutes left in the 4th.  Cut it to 4 with 30 seconds.  Ran out of steam and out of time.  5' 8" Lanoira Duhart held their 6' 4" Chicago State recruit in-check.  Defensive standouts were Duhart, Sara Travia and Michelle Peltz.  Bri Gray was high scorer with 9 points.This week, the ladies will travel to Homestead for their North Shore Conference opener on Friday (5:45pm for Frosh and JV/ 7:30pm for Varsity).  The Frosh team will also play Monday at Franklin (5pm) and Saturday at Milwaukee King (4pm).

The NHS Boys Swim team: The boys host Homestead in their conference opener Tuesday night starting at 6pm and then will host their annual Sprint Invitational on Saturday beginning at 9:30am.

 

The NHS Girls Hockey Co-op with University School: The Wildcats will take on Beaver Dam at home (University School) on Friday at 7pm.

 

The NHS Boys Hockey Co-op with Whitefish Bay HS: WNS pulled off a huge win over the weekend.  After trailing 2-0 early, the boys stuck to their plan and clawed their way back in to the game winning it in overtime!  Junior goalie Sean Leahy was rock solid in net stopping 20 shots including one that came on a penalty shot.  Their next game is Thursday night at the University of Arrowhead and then again at home on Friday night at 530pm vs Cedarburg.  Friday night is their annual spirit night and will feature prizes, giveaways, free food coupons, and the Pep Band.

 

The NHS Wrestling team: The team will host its third annual Nicolet Wrestling Scramble on Saturday with 16 teams competing all day beginning at 8:00am.

 

The NHS Booster Club:  Next meeting is Wednesday, December 5th at 7pm in room B113.
