Nicolet Athletic Update: 1.21.13

The NHS Boys Basketball team: The Knights boys basketball team split a pair of games last week, winning at home in a non-conference game vs. Wauwatosa West before losing on the road to conference rival Homestead last Friday.  The boys are now 8-7 overall and 5-4 in the North Shore, good enough for 4th place.  Tyler Miller (16.0) and Eugene Bonner (14.9) continue to be the team's leading scorers but the team is getting significant contributions on a nightly basis from Greg Pigg, Treland Jenkins and Nolan Wagner.  The boys travel to Milwaukee Lutheran on Friday (5:45/7:30pm).

The NHS Girls Basketball team: The Lady Knights beat Homesetad at home last Friday night 33-24 to run their overall record to 8-7 (5-3 3rd place in the North Shore).  Briana Gray (15.1) and Lanoira Duhart (7.9) lead the team in scoring for the defensive minded Lady Knights.  They continue to get strong play from Michelle Peltz, Katherine Richter and Sara Travia.  The girls are home this week Friday against Milwaukee Lutheran (3-8, 2-6) at 5:45/7:30pm.

The NHS Wrestling team: Last Thursday, the Knights took to the mat against the Germantown Warhawks.  While wrestling tough and really working hard, the experience of the Germantown wrestlers eventually won out. Juniors Jack Kalloch and Alex Ellison both got pins for the Knights, but the highlight of the evening was Senior heavy weight Nate Patton who went head to head with Germantown's 5th ranked heavyweight in the state and won with a score of 7-4. Congrats Nate!!  On Saturday 17 JV wrestlers went to Racine Park and finished with 5 first place finishes and 5 second place finishes while the varsity team travelled to Sheboygan North High School for the 20-team Raider Invite.  Seniors Nate Patton and Jordan Fisher took 6th place in the tournament while sophomore Mohamed Dawod took the 5th spot.  On Saturday, January 26, the JV wrestlers will be at Whitefish Bay while the Varsity team has the weekend off.  Next week Monday, January 28th, the Knights will be at home against the Blue Dukes of Whitefish Bay.

The NHS Boys Swim team: The boys Varsity swim team hosted their annual diving meet last Friday.  The team is off this week but will be preparing for a dual meet with our Whitefish Bay neighbors on Monday, January 28th at home.
