Nicolet Athletic Update: 4.22.13

 

The NHS Girls Softball team: The girls softball team had a busy week last week losing to Grafton on Monday 8-5 despite 3 RBI's from frosh 2nd baseman Sam Peltz.  On Tuesday, the team rebounded and beat Cedarburg by the same 8-5 score with Edyn Herbert going 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI's.  On Saturday the team lost to Brookfield East 9-8 with Amethyst Graham collecting her first hit with a booming double to left field and beat Racine Horlick 12-2 with solid defensive play.  So far on the year, the team is 2-2 with Jaclyn Clark leading the team in hitting with a .467 average.  Herbert is hitting .375 and Lanoira Duhart is batting .364.  Amanda Mehl has pitching every inning so far and has an ERA of 3.82.  The team will play 7 games this week: Monday (4:30pm) at home vs. Whitefish Bay, Tuesday (4:30pm) at Thiensville Park vs. Homestead (although that game may be moved to Nicolet if the Highlanders home field does not rise above sea level by tomorrow), Wednesday (4:30pm) at home vs. Milwaukee Lutheran, Thursday (4:30pm) at Milwaukee Lutheran, Friday (4:30pm) at Brookfield Central and Saturday at a tournament in Madison.  Follow on the Nicolet Softball action by signing up on GameChanger Brad Kuehl via GameChanger <info@gamechanger.io>

The NHS Boys and Girls Track teams: The Boys and Girls will compete at Greendale High School Monday night at 3:30pm.  The Boys will travel to Homestead for an invite on Tuesday at 4pm and then to Quad Park on Saturday at 10am to participate in the Marquette Invite.

The NHS Girls Soccer team: The Girls Varsity took home the Eastside Cup again after winning their tournament at Shorewood this past weekend.  They scored a 1-0 victory over Shorewood in the final of the Eastside Cup on Saturday.  Haley Sullivan scored the winner at 51 minutes 59 seconds off a pass from Greta Ricigliano.  The team is now 4-0 (1-0 in conference).  This week, the girls play at Port Washington on Tuesday (JV-5/V-7).  The Varsity also plays at home on Friday vs. Waukesha South at 7pm.  The JV plays in a tournament at Shorewood High School on Friday (4:30pm) and Saturday.  The JV2 plays Tuesday at Brookfield East (4:30pm), Thursday at Greendale (4:30pm) and Friday at home vs. DSHA at 5pm.

 

The NHS Boys Tennis team: The Boys host Homestead on Tuesday (3:30pm), travel to Port Washington on Thursday and the Varsity will compete in a tournament at Verona High School Friday and Saturday.  The JV team will compete in the Brookfield East Invitational on Saturday.

 

The NHS Boys Rugby team: The Boys will be in action tonight as they take on Lake Country at Nashotah Park at 5:30pm.

 

The NHS Boys Golf team: The JV golfers will shoot at Brown Deer vs. Whitefish Bay today and again on Wednesday vs. Germantown at 3pm.  The Frosh are scheduled to play on Tuesday vs. Cedarburg (3:28pm) and Thursday vs. Grafton (3:28pm) at Lincoln.

 

The Lakeshore Lacrosse Team consists of Men’s Lacrosse players from Nicolet, Homestead, Whitefish Bay and Shorewood.  Nicolet players include Dan Wheeler, Michael Hangsterfer, and John Jaekels on Varsity and Jack Cook and Brink Miller on JV. The "Ripsharks" Varsity is 4-1 and tied for the Classic 8 Conference lead. John Jaekels leads the Knights on the team with 4 goals, Dan Wheeler is second with two. The JV is 3-2.  The Varsity Ripsharks are back in action Monday night the 22nd when they play conference rival Heritage Christian at Shorewood High School field at 8pm.  The team also plays on Wednesday this week vs Marquette @ Uihlien Soccer Park (JV-5pm/ V-7:30pm).  On Friday, the team will play at Homestead High School vs. Ozaukee (V-5:30pm/JV-6pm).

 

The NHS Booster Club:  Next meeting is Wednesday, May 1st at 7pm in room B113.

 

On Friday, May 10th, Football University is offering a FREE Tackling Clinic at Nicolet High School.  Coaches clinic: 4:30-6:30pm and Players clinic 6:30-8pm.  (Flyer attached)
