Drill Baby, Drill!

I was looking at a photo of a vast tract of land, teeming with oil rigs (or pump jacks) they looked so very much like a couple of ticks I found on my dog last summer, head buried and extracting fluid. Their bodies pointed skyward bloated and swelling, I could not help but notice the parallel metaphor. They cause disease, we create all kinds of poisonous pollution to feed our own habit.

I also looked up coal extraction and WOW! (Christopher Walken "wow" at that). Those are bloody big Moby Dickian type machines. The funny thing is, I was again thinking of the insect world and Bark beetles, or as they are also called, Mountain Pine beetles. But they bring about with their fearsome chomping mandibles Armageddon like destruction to pine trees from New Mexico through British Columbia. So far, millions of acres have been desroyed which, by the way, is bad news for forest fires. Or good for the fire, and bad for the forest.

Anyway, those big coal machines are tearing their way through much the same mountain tops and land that used to be beautiful, but now look more like a deer hit by a semi truck. Nothing but mangled pieces lying about.

I'm just saying, it looks bad. And I am not mentioning that what we pull up out of the ground, we then burn up into the sky. You Know, mixing it up with that stuff that we need to breath, along with all the other life things on Earth.

Well, I suppose like somebody wrote on my Tar Sands post ,HEY! We will figure out how to fix it all. It will be another miracle pulled from out of our good old American Uncle Sam's Hat. Or maybe, Jesus will come back and fix all with a deft wave of His hand or those UFO Alien types that have been charging about the sky over the years will shoot a magic rainbow laser and make everything pure like the good old days (There were those days right? Or was that a "Leave it to Beaver" episode?) Yea, something like that.
